Why Digital Web Books (E-Books) & Print-On-Demand?

eBooks and Print on DemandPut very simply….

  1. Firstly, it allows us to keep a greater number of children’s spiritual titles in the market place while helping the environment and simultaneously offering economic benefits (realistic book prices) to both customers and the industry.
  2. It minimizes paper wastage and large printing expenditure. Avoids inventory, storage, order processing, handling fees, whilst maximizing efficiency. This supports our responsibility to mother earth whilst using the technology of tomorrow.
  3. Our book titles and their divine messages can go global instantly to children worldwide. Pick-A-WooWoo plans to have a comprehensive library of WooWoo books (some require payment / some for FREE)
  4. Most importantly,  “Green” has always been a core Pickawoowoo value. Sustainability, health, and environmentally sound initiatives have always been desirable business practices that fit with our spiritual responsibility.

Incidentally, when we talked “Green”, people perked up and become impassioned. So its time to 'walk our talk' even more so than we are…and the first major option for us to embrace is Digital Web Books (E-Books) and Print on Demand (print them as we receive orders, known as POD).
  5. Brian Murray, group president of HarperCollins, said, "The younger generations are consuming information in a different way. They may not necessarily be going into bookshops. They are spending time on Google, MySpace, Facebook, author websites, Yahoo and MSN," he meant the augment of the age of digitisation of book publishing. Pick-a-WooWoo Publishers can take our children’s spiritual books online to reach out to a wider audience (and pass on the wonderful messages) across geographies as high-speed Internet access invades the average household (an odd 320 million households with broadband access in 2007 worldwide).
  6. We believe that print on demand (POD) is an essential part of the future of publishing. We are living through extraordinary economic times. Our industry is facing enormous challenges. We find ourselves at what we believe to be a tipping point of change for the way in which we publish, print and distribute books (and we think it is all good!)

Now more than ever, we believe that it is time for us as a small publisher to use print on demand to its full potential. This is no longer an optional novelty; nor is it just about out of print books or self publishing (as considered by many). We believe that it is at the heart of a book's life and the lifeline between a book and the many seeking spirituality for their children.

As Pick-a-WooWoo matches its supply to demand perfectly, we can be both bold and green in our decision making. We can reduce the restraints and uncertainties that are facing many in the publishing arena now and which in all likelihood continue to face us in the future.

Pick-a-WooWoo will seize the opportunities that POD has to offer. It really is a single source of services where we as publishers can explore new content formats, reach more customers, explore new markets, and sell more without taking huge risks. In the business world, this allows us more choices and revenue opportunities while eliminating substantial operational costs. Keeping spiritual books alive for our children and consumers to buy and read to their hearts content.

What does it all mean?

E-Books and POD save trees – a lot of trees. Similarly, although we love print we really hate waste. By physically printing large numbers of each book (to get economy of scale) the waste involved is phenomenal (even though we use a lot of our waste paper as gift wrapping and packaging).

Pickawoowoo will minimise print runs and use E-Books and Print on Demand services worldwide. We believe this will only encourage, enhance and improve acceptance of children’s spiritual books at realistic and affordable prices. (NOTE: Print on Demand is not yet commercially viable in Australia unfortunately).

There is much more ahead. We believe the publishing industry could be riding a wave of success, thanks to innovative marketing strategies like blog discussions, e-mail to readers and preview booklets to promote new titles.

We are committed to people and the responsible use of natural resources.
We want to help our environment by consuming less paper. While we know that the consumer market for E-books (consuming books as digital files rather than printed and bound) is one that will develop at its own speed, we will be able to offer a far greater product range to our customers.

The end result!

So many more amazing children’s books, that never would have seen the light of day, will be born. We are committed to the success of spiritual books for children whilst minimising our footprint on Mother Earth.

These E-books and Print on Demand books will further enhance our children’s spiritual growth and well-being…whilst helping the planet.

What a win/win solution for our children; our amazing authors/illustrators; our customers; our company and our environment.
